Anti-terrorism police are scouring a semi-detached house in a suburban community just outside London that media say is linked to a suicide bombing at a Syrian prison last week.

The BBC and other media say the house's former resident is thought to be the bomber, who blew himself up as part of an attack on Aleppo prison which freed hundreds of prisoners.

Syrian government forces have since retaken much of the area, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The BBC published a photograph of police officers standing outside the two-story home in Crawley, a commuter town down the road from London's Gatwick Airport.

Officials declined to comment on the man's identity Thursday. The government has become increasingly concerned by the issue of British Muslims traveling to Syria.
