Police in some European capitals say they have upgraded security for their Egyptian embassies amid continuing unrest in Egypt.

Czech police spokeswoman Veronika Hodacova says security has been tightened around the Egyptian Embassy in Prague, and her Austrian counterpart says the Egyptian embassy in Vienna is now under permanent surveillance. Police in the Slovak capital of Bratislava say have also increased security on request from the Egyptian Embassy.

Austrian officials also said Tuesday that Egypt's ambassador was under additional protection.

In Switzerland, police said they "continually adjust the security measures" but would not confirm whether security at the Egyptian embassy in Bern and the Egyptian mission in Geneva has been boosted.
