Police arrest 2 suspected members of jihadist cell prepared to carry out attacks in Spain

MADRID – The Spanish Interior Ministry says police have arrested two people in the north African enclave of Ceuta on suspicion of belonging to a jihadi terror cell and who were prepared to carry out attacks in Spain.

A ministry statement said Tuesday the arrests were connected to the detention of 4 others belonging to the same cell Jan. 24.

The statement said two houses are being searched. The case is being coordinated by the National Court in Madrid.

Ceuta is one of two Spanish enclaves surrounded by Morocco on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other.
