The parents of a British lawyer shot dead in Berlin say they believe their son was the victim of a hate crime.

Luke Holland was killed in the early hours of Sept. 20, in the Neukoelln district of the German capital.

A 62-year-old man, identified only as Rolf Z., has been arrested in connection with the killing.

Rita and Philip Holland said Monday they believe he was shot because he was heard speaking English, but that authorities haven't looked thoroughly into the possibility of a hate crime.

Their lawyer, Onur Ozata, claimed the suspect had pictures and busts of Adolf Hitler at home.

Berlin prosecutors' office spokesman Martin Steltner said investigators are still in the dark about a possible motive because the suspect refuses to talk.
