The statement, carried by the state news agency, said the men were arrested in Marrakech and in Laayoune, capital of the Western Sahara region annexed by Morocco.

The statement said that according to information gathered by the intelligence service, the men, including one of Polish and one of Rwandan origin, were suspected to have links to terror organizations.

The statement said one of the suspects had engaged in "suspicious travel" to Egypt and Yemen and was known for his extremist rhetoric.
