Mexican broadcaster Televisa says its profit rose 41.5 percent in the third quarter on the strength of gains from pay-TV subscribers.

Grupo Televisa SAB is the world's largest producer of Spanish-language TV programs. It also owns Mexico's biggest television network.

The earnings report released Wednesday says Televisa had a profit of 2.86 billion pesos ($222 million) in the July-September quarter. That compares to after-tax earnings of 2.02 billion pesos during the same period of 2011.

Televisa's revenue in the latest quarter totaled 17.36 billion pesos ($1.35 billion). That's an 8.7 percent increase from 15.96 billion pesos a year earlier.

The company says the growth in revenue was boosted by sales of packages offered by cable television companies.
