Magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits western China

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck the sparsely populated region of western China early Saturday, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake caps a relatively quiet week for major quakes, with only one other quake registering higher than 6.0, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded Sunday in Russia.
