A Lebanese judicial official says kidnapping charges are expected to be filed against an Australian woman and eight others for attempting to take the woman's two children away from her Lebanese ex-husband and spirit them back to Australia.

Police arrested Sally Faulkner and a reporting crew from the Australian Nine Network TV along with other suspects after a botched attempt to take her five-year-old daughter and her three-year-old son from her Lebanese ex-husband in Beirut on Thursday. Faulkner says her ex-husband moved the children to Lebanon without her permission.

The judicial official spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to brief reporters.
