Kerry's focus switches to North Korea, Syria as he attends Asia security conference

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Brunei, the final stop on his two-week tour of Asia and the Mideast.

Kerry landed Monday in Brunei's capital to attend a Southeast Asia security conference. He flew there from Israel, where he conducted four days of meetings to coax the Israelis and Palestinians to restart peace talks. During the flight, Kerry spoke again by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin.

At the conference, Kerry is scheduled to meet with Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Their discussion is to center on the crisis in Syria as well as Moscow's decision not to return National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden back to the U.S.

Kerry also will talk with his counterparts from China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian nations.
