Iran Rejected From Board of New UN Women's Agency

Iran was rejected Wednesday from the board of a new United Nations agency dedicated to promoting women's rights.

Iran received 19 votes from the 54 nations voting.

Eastern nation was ruled by strict Islamic law, which heavily restricts the role of women in many aspects of everyday life.

The US ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, was expected to comment on the vote shortly.
