THE HAGUE, Netherlands – The International Criminal Court says the trial of former Congo militia leader Bosco Ntaganda has been postponed until September to give defense lawyers more time to prepare.
The trial on charges including murder, rape and using child soldiers had been due to start July 7.
Ntaganda is charged with involvement in atrocities in the eastern Congolese province of Ituri from 2002-2003. His denies the charges. He will formally enter pleas at the start of his trial.
The court announced Friday that judges postponed the start of the trial until Sept. 2 at the request of the defense. Prosecutors did not object to the delay.
