Indonesia is preparing to evacuate all 875 of its citizens believed to be in Libya.

Michael Tene, a spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, says the first group of just over 200 people will be taken on a charter flight from the capital, Tripoli, to Tunisia on Friday evening.

He says the remaining Indonesians stranded by Libya's bloody unrest will be flown out of the country gradually.

The Indonesians living in Libya are mostly construction workers and students.
