Haitian election authorities say they will redo voting in 25 districts due to violent disruptions that marred legislative elections earlier this month.

At a Thursday news conference, leaders of the Provisional Electoral Council announced they would redo first round voting in over 15 percent of Haiti's constituencies Oct. 25.

That's when all the other districts will be voting in the first round of Haiti's presidential election and the second round of local elections.

Eighteen percent of voters showed up Aug. 9 at polling stations across Haiti, where turnout is historically low during legislative contests.

Council Deputy Mosler Georges said they had preliminary results of the first round and those results will stand. They told reporters to review their website for the election breakdown, but the site was down.
