OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso – The lawyer for Guinea's ex-junta leader says Moussa "Dadis" Camara was blocked by Guinean officials from returning to the country.
Jean Baptiste Haba said Wednesday that Camara was stuck at the Accra, Ghana airport before flying back to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in the afternoon. He said Guinean officials refused to permit his re-entry.
Guinea's government spokesman says the government is not preventing his return.
Camara's party says the former leader was also blocked Aug. 15.
Camara seized power in 2008. In September 2009, the presidential guard opened fire on protesters demanding his resignation, killing at least 156. He went into exile in Burkina Faso in 2010.
In July, Camara's lawyer said he had been indicted over the massacre, but Camara said he would run in October's vote.
