PARIS – France's broadcasting watchdog is holding a special meeting Thursday with broadcasters to examine "failures" in the coverage of the attacks in which 20 people, including three gunmen, were killed.
Accusations have emerged that TV news stations revealed too much information on the whereabouts of hostages hiding, and put them at risk. Some have said they interfered with police operations.
After re-watching hundreds of hours of footage, the Higher Broadcasting Council will decide if French TV stations are liable to incur penalties or sanctions. The council, known by its French acronym CSA, will also decide on coverage rules for future emergency events.
