An Australian drug trafficker has ended nine years in an Indonesian prison with a reported multimillion-dollar deal for an exclusive television interview.

But lawyers said on Tuesday that Schapelle Corby faces an uphill battle to hang on to any media earnings under an Australian law that mandates that crime should not pay.

The 35-year-old was paroled on Monday.

Media reports say Seven Network has offered her as much as 3 million Australian dollars ($2.7 million) for an exclusive interview. The network won't comment.

University of Western Australia lawyer Natalie Skead and Melbourne lawyer Christian Juebner say they expect police will ask the courts to confiscate the proceeds of any media deal.
