An exit poll shows that Greece's radical left coalition known as Syriza is leading the conservative New Democracy party by about 3 percentage points in the country's election for seats in the European Parliament.

The poll conducted by four firms Sunday and reported by national broadcaster Nerit showed the Syriza opposition getting between 26 to 28 percent of the vote compared to 23 to 25 percent for New Democracy.

The extreme right Golden Dawn party was expected to win 9 to 10 percent of the vote while the Olive Tree center-left coalition was forecast to get 8 to 9 percent.

New Democracy is the senior partner in Greece's government coalition. Its main ally is Olive Tree.
