QUITO, Ecuador – Ecuador's president says WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will be questioned shortly at his country's embassy in London.
President Rafael Correa told reporters in Quito on Wednesday that questions submitted by Swedish prosecutors will be asked of Assange by Ecuadorean officials.
The questions relate to accusations of sexual assault made by two women.
The Associated Press attempted to reach Swedish officials for comment on whether they accept the conditions Correa described but it was late in the day.
Assange took refuge in Ecuador's embassy in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden and has been confined there since.
He claims the investigation is a pretext and that Sweden would hand him over to the United States.
Assange angered U.S. officials by publishing reams of leaked diplomatic cables and sensitive war-related documents.
