Activist Chen Guangcheng, who fled house arrest in China and later moved to the U.S., will arrive in Taiwan on Sunday.

Organizers said Chen's trip will be part of his ongoing efforts to enhance freedoms for his fellow Chinese.

The Taiwan Association for China Human Rights said Chen, who was born blind, will address Taiwan's legislature and meet human rights activists.

Last year, Chen sparked a diplomatic crisis between China and the United States when he fled to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing from house arrest. He spent the last year as a special student at New York University.

The democratic island has extended a warm welcome to Chen. But President Ma Ying-jeou may not meet him to avoid angering China.
