A British soldier with an interest in far-right politics has been jailed for two years for making a viable nail bomb in his home.

Police found the bomb last November when they searched Ryan McGee's home in the greater Manchester area in northwest England.

He was sentenced Friday for making the explosive device with 181 metal screws and bits of glass.

Evidence indicated he was interested in the far-right English Defense League and had watched videos of executions conducted under a swastika flag.

The 20-year-old was an active soldier preparing for deployment in Germany when he was arrested.
