As Carnival season winds down in Brazil, hundreds of women have gathered in a large street party to mock the social stigma tied to their past sexual experience.

They called themselves "Mulheres Rodadas", which loosely translates as women who have been around.

The revelers complained on Wednesday of the double standard that shames women who've had many past sex partners and praises men for the same thing.

Organizer Deborah Thome says the idea was born after a man shared on social media a message saying he didn't deserve a woman with multiple past sex partners, sparking outrage among feminists in Brazil.

The street party is among around 450 Rio de Janeiro has seen and one of the last as Carnival draws to an end.
