SANAA, Yemen – Yemen's Liquefied Natural Gas company is blaming saboteurs for an explosion on a frequently-attacked pipeline in the country's south.
An oil ministry official said Tuesday's blast temporarily halted the flow of gas in the pipeline in Yemen's Shabwa province. He said repairs are underway and exports were not affected.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters.
The gas company said in a statement that there were no injuries in the explosion.
Security officials said attackers also blew up a different oil pipeline in Shabwa late Monday and halted the flow of 8,000 barrels pumped there.
Government oil officials estimate the repeated attacks have cost the country $2.5 billion.
