A man has opened fire near a supermarket west of Paris, injuring two people.
Police have surrounded a building, believed to be the suspect's home, where he is said to be holed up.
The shooting took place outside the store in Port-Marly, west of Paris, at around midday.
The suspect is understood to be a man in his 60s who is reportedly already known to police.
A spokeswoman for the Versailles public prosecutor's office said the incident did not appear to be an act of terrorism.
"He went home and the RAID (elite police) is readying for negotiations with him," she added.
The victims are said to be a 57-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man, wounded in what prosecutors have described as "a private dispute".
