Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's lawyers are due in court Tuesday to prepare for contempt-of-court hearings that the lawman faces next month in a racial profiling case.

Among the subjects expected to be discussed is whether attorneys who pushed the case are seeking access to hundreds of IDs that are part of an investigation into allegations that officers pocketed items during traffic stops and busts.

Arpaio faces the hearings for his acknowledged violations of an order barring his immigration patrols, failing to turn over traffic-stop recordings before the profiling trial and bungling a plan to gather the videos once they were publicly revealed.

He acknowledged the violations in an unsuccessful bid to get the hearings called off and continues to try to get a judge disqualified from the case.
