PRAGUE – The left-wing Social Democrats, the first-place party in October's parliamentary election in the Czech Republic, have signed a deal with two other parties to form a new coalition government.
The deal signed by Social Democratic leader Bohuslav Sobotka Monday with the centrist ANO (Yes) movement led by billionaire businessman Andrej Babis and the centrist Christian Democrats is a major step to end a political crisis triggered by center-right government's collapse in June.
The Social Democrats will get eight ministry posts, including the prime minister, while ANO will get six ministries and the Christian Democrats will get three government posts.
It is not clear when President Milos Zeman might appoint Sobotka and his government.
