Chief Superintendent of Ekurhuleni Police Wilfred Kgasago said the blast Tuesday night targeted the Moneypoint store next to the Eastgate Mall. He said he did not yet know the cause of the blast and could not give further details.

The blast occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Johannesburg time at the shop which purchases gold and jewelry, according to local news reports. Police have cordoned off the area.
