Severe storm threat shifts eastward through Plains to Mississippi River Valley

Severe storms have continued overnight across the Plains, and today the threat shifts eastward to eastern portions of the Plains and the Mississippi River Valley. While the overall threat is not as extreme as yesterday, large hail, damaging winds, flooding, and more tornadoes are possible through tonight.

Temperatures across the Southeast are on the rise today, reaching the upper 80s and low 90s.  Some of this warmth spreads into the Ohio River Valley on Thursday.

The first named storm of the 2019 Atlantic season formed yesterday evening in the Atlantic – Subtropical Storm Andrea is about 300 miles SW of Bermuda, but will be short-lived as it is forecast to be absorbed by a cold front tomorrow.
