Video of mother catching girl skipping school goes viral
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A Wyoming mother who confronted her teenage daughter with a cellphone video camera as she skipped school last week reportedly scared the girl straight.
Jeannie Crutchfield, 34, of Casper, told ABC News her daughter Rickilee has attended school every day since she posted a video on her Facebook profile on Sept. 26. The 3-minute video, which has been viewed nearly 100,000 times, depicts Crutchfield following her 14-year-old daughter walking around the school after she learned the girl skipped class every day during the prior week.
“When was I ditching, Mom?” the girl asks.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“Every day this week,” Crutchfield replied. “And I can show you.”
Crutchfield, a single mother of three, said she did not expect the video to go viral.
“I was just trying to prove a point to my daughter,” she told ABC News. “For the most part, I’ve had really positive comments from kids and parents alike, even teachers.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Crutchfield said her daughter is now not even thinking about skipping that next chemistry class.
“Her attitude has changed,” she said. “[A friend] asked if she wanted to ditch school yesterday and she told the person no. The thought of Mom following her again wasn’t appealing.”
