USC Campus Shut Down After False Bomb Threat
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Parts of the University of Southern California campus were temporarily shut down, and students were ordered to stay in their classrooms after police received a bomb threat and also found a suspicious package in the Leavey Library building, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The university received a phone call Wednesday afternoon from someone claiming they put a bomb inside a campus building, law enforcement sources told the newspaper, adding they believed the caller was intoxicated and didn't think there was a bomb.
Police later learned the threat was made from the psychiatric ward at County-USC Hospital where the caller had reported other various crimes earlier in the day, The Times reported.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sources told the newspaper they believe the call was a hoax and the campus was resuming a normal schedule.
Several streets near the campus were closed and police officers were on standby at the Shrine Auditorium.
