Police Search for Sex Offender Who Cut Off GPS Device
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A high-risk sex offender is on the loose in North Dakota after police say he cut off his GPS monitoring device.
Thomas Jose Eppler, 24, is described as a "lifetime registrant" and has a criminal history in Minnesota and Iowa, StarTribune.com reported.
He has been considered a fugitive since Monday afternoon in the Fargo area, but police said they didn't know if he was still in the area or had fled the state.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In April 2007, Eppler, who also goes by the name Jose Munoz Gutierrez, was convicted in North Dakota of sexually assaulting a woman described by police as an acquaintance, the newspaper reported.
Eppler's criminal history includes underage drinking, burglary and fleeing a police officer in Minnesota, as well as assault in Iowa, StarTribune.com reported.
