Plane Returns to Portland Over Unruly Passenger
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Two F-15 fighter jets escorted a flight bound for Hawaii back to Portland International Airport after a passenger became disruptive, KATU.com reported.
The flight with 231 people aboard left Wednesday morning, but got turned around about 90 minutes later and headed back.
A "Level 1" passenger alert was reported after a passenger on a Hawaiian Airlines flight holding a duffle bag passed a note to the flight attendant to give to the pilot, the station reported.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In a statement, the Transportation Security Administration said the captain made a decision to return the plane to Portland because a suspicious passenger made threatening remarks and refused to store his carry-on bag.
A spokesman for Hawaiian Airlines told Fox News the incident is not related to terrorism.
"This is kind of a routine passenger disturbance on board," said Keoni Wagner, a spokesman for the airlines. "a guy is being taken off the flight, but it's not of any paricular concern."
