One month after killing of jogger Vanessa Marcotte, more than 1,000 tips have poured in

It's been one month since 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte went for an afternoon jog and never returned home.

Dying flowers are still scattered on the Princeton, Mass. town common, a reminder that a young woman lost her life.

Marcotte was attacked and killed off Brooks Station Road in Princeton Aug. 7. The New York City resident grew up in Leominster and was visiting her mother for the weekend.

There have been no arrests and no named suspects, though more 1,000 tips have come in about the case. Investigators told FOX25 they're following every lead to find justice for Marcotte.

Many residents said they simply didn't even want to talk about her death. They are sick of the media, sick of not knowing what happened, and still sick with grief.

Andrew Cardillo knows Marcotte's family. He still remembers that horrible moment when he learned she'd been killed. He said the family is hoping for answers.

"They're pretty upset about all this, they just wish they could find someone who did it so the family could have some justice," he told FOX25.

A former FBI profiler told FOX25 that the wait for answers from investigators is not unusual.

"What they are trying to do, particularly at this stage, is not give away information that the suspect can get ahold of," said Mary Ellen O'Toole.
