Driver who police say was drunk pleads guilty in crash into river that killed pal's 4-year-old

An Ohio woman who authorities say was drunk when her car went into a river, killing a 4-year-old, has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide.

Lindsey Gundlach (guhnd-LAHK'), of Huron, pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated vehicular homicide in Erie County.

Her car plunged into the Huron River in December with her friend's 4-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter inside. The children's mother went into the river but only the girl could be rescued from the vehicle before it became submerged.

Gundlach had a blood-alcohol content of 0.127 percent, above the legal limit.

Authorities say Gundlach had been backing out of her friend's driveway and didn't stop when she reached a road. Her car went across the road and into the river.

A message seeking comment was left with her attorney Tuesday.
