California Mother Accused of Locking Child in Closet Over Bad Grades
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A California woman was charged with child abuse after allegedly subjecting her daughter to an extreme punishment for bad grades: locking her up in a closet for six hours.
Costa Mesa police say the mother, 32, hit her 13-year-old daughter on Oct. 29 with a stick before locking her up, the Daily Pilot reports.
The newspaper withheld the mother’s name to protect the identity of the daughter.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The mother was arrested after the incident and was held in Orange County Jail until Monday, when she was released after posting bail, the Daily Pilot reports. She faces a misdemeanor count of child abuse.
The daughter is now in custody of Orangewood Children & Family Center’s Care.
