Transcript: Callous Treatment for George Smith's Wife?

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, HOST: Jennifer Hagel Smith claims she was treated callously the day her new husband disappeared. We spoke today with Marie Breheret the manager of guest relations for Royal Caribbean. She spent July 5th with Jennifer Hagel Smith.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

VAN SUSTEREN: So the first time you saw Jennifer was it actually right here, brought in here?

MARIE BREHERET, CRUISE GUEST RELATIONS MANAGER: She was sitting here and we had the young men here.

VAN SUSTEREN: What young men?

BREHERET: One of the young men was here with her.

VAN SUSTEREN: OK, is this someone who works for the Royal Caribbean or is this somebody else?

BREHERET: The young man the one who were with George the previous night.

VAN SUSTEREN: OK, so this is not an employee. This is a passenger.

BREHERET: Yes, that's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: Both came together?

BREHERET: He came before Jennifer.

VAN SUSTEREN: Why was he here?

BREHERET: Because he heard that we were paging Jennifer and George.

VAN SUSTEREN: So you're sitting in your office and all of a sudden this young man shows up and did you understand even why he was there?

BREHERET: He just told us that he saw George and Jennifer the previous night and that he said they might be sleeping in their room.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say what time he saw them?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say whether there was anything unusual going on?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say how he knew them?

BREHERET: They just met onboard the ship.

VAN SUSTEREN: Had he been partying with them for days or was it...

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: So he'd known them for a couple days on the ship?

BREHERET: That's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: So he's seated here.

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: You're talking to him.

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: And is there a knock on the door that Jennifer Hagel is here?

BREHERET: That's right. The staff captain came with Jennifer.

VAN SUSTEREN: Jennifer sits right there in this chair.

BREHERET: Yes that's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: And what happens?

BREHERET: And then the staff captain told her that something outside the ship indicated that George Smith may have gone overboard.

VAN SUSTEREN: And what was her immediate reaction? What did she say?

BREHERET: She was crying and then she was like surprised and then confused.

VAN SUSTEREN: Was she crying before she came in?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did she suspect something was wrong with her husband, if you know, at that point?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: So it wasn't until the staff captain says it?

BREHERET: That's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: What did Jennifer say? Did she say when she last saw him or anything in the first few seconds?

BREHERET: No, she just said I don't know where he is. She said that this was like a dream that she would wake up and he would be there.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did the gentleman, the young man, did he ask questions?

BREHERET: He only asked the staff captain if there was blood outside, if we found blood outside the ship. The staff captain didn't answer, so we can assume that Jennifer understood that, yes, there was blood outside.

VAN SUSTEREN: He just out of the blue, he's sitting here, Jennifer is sitting there, the staff captain tells Jennifer "Your husband's missing," and out of the blue this man who had been with him the night before said "Was there blood outside the cabin"?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: And it surprised you?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: How long did he stay here in the room with you, this man?

BREHERET: I would say ten, 15 minutes.

VAN SUSTEREN: How did you tell him to leave or did he say, "I got to go"? How did he happen to leave?

BREHERET: Then, yes, he went outside to meet with his family.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did you see him again after that?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: When did you see him again?

BREHERET: So I was here with Jennifer. We then went to the medical facilities to see the doctor. Then we went to an empty cabin where she was able to shower and change. And then when we came back in the lobby he was waiting with his family.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say he had been in the room though?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say when he left?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say what about the other guys that were there? Did he say he left with them?

BREHERET: No. He didn't say anything about the other guys.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he name the other guys?

BREHERET: A few times, yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he describe anything unusual going on in the room?

BREHERET: No, no.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say anything about George when he left?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he say what time he left?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he talk to the Turkish authorities?

BREHERET: Yes, he did.

VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know if he ever spoke to the FBI?

BREHERET: He did.

VAN SUSTEREN: Was that onboard they spoke to the FBI or off board if you know?

BREHERET: It was onboard.

VAN SUSTEREN: On July 5th?

BREHERET: The day after, two days after.

VAN SUSTEREN: When it was in Greece?

BREHERET: Yes, that's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did he talk to the Turkish authorities right then?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Jennifer stayed how long in this room until she went to take a shower?

BREHERET: I would say 30 minutes.

VAN SUSTEREN: I take it you took her to the other cabin because you wanted to have her cabin secured is that right?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did she say anything at all about recognizing this young man who was here?

BREHERET: Not at all. No, she didn't mention anything.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did they talk at all while they were here?

BREHERET: No, not really.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did she act like she even knew him or recognized him?

BREHERET: Yes, I mean his mother just said to her, "Jennifer, you'll be fine."

VAN SUSTEREN: He said what?

BREHERET: His mother came inside in the office and just told Jennifer she just tried to assist her and said "Don't worry, everything will be fine. We'll find him."

VAN SUSTEREN: But what did he say to her anything at all?

BREHERET: No.

VAN SUSTEREN: Quiet?

BREHERET: Yes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Was it unusual?

BREHERET: At that time I didn't really know what was. We didn't really know what was going on.

VAN SUSTEREN: So you spent the day with Jennifer essentially assisting her?

BREHERET: Yes, that's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: From the time that she came into your office until the time she left the ship were you with her the whole time except for instance when she was having a shower or with the doctor?

BREHERET: And except during the questioning when she met with the judge and the FBI agent.

VAN SUSTEREN: Was the FBI agent onboard that day?

BREHERET: No. We met him at the police station.

VAN SUSTEREN: In Turkey?

BREHERET: That's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: But on July 5th?

BREHERET: That's right.

VAN SUSTEREN: How long did she talk to the Turkish authorities?

BREHERET: Well, she had the questioning at the terminal. I would say 30 minutes.

VAN SUSTEREN: Did she ask anything of you or Royal Caribbean?

BREHERET: She asked her father to come in Turkey because she wanted to fly back home with him and then the U.S. consulate official told her that she booked a flight for her, so she was going home.
