Sarah Palin Fires Back After Slip of the Tongue

Give It Up
Former Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman is speaking from experience when he suggests fellow Republican Joe Miller admit defeat in the Alaska Senate race. Coleman told CSPAN -- quote -- "I think that race is over. I think the counting's been done. It should be time to move on. There's not much that you can gain by extending the process."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Miller trails incumbent Lisa Murkowski by about 10,000 votes -- 8,000 of which Miller has challenged.
Coleman ultimately lost his 2008 race against Democrat Al Franken by just 225 votes after seven months of recounts and legal challenges.
True North
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page Thursday to attack the media for seizing on a gaffe she made when she said during an interview that North Korea was an ally to the U.S. Her posting read -- quote -- "it seems [the media] couldn't resist the temptation to turn a simple one word slip-of-the-tongue of mine into a major political headline."
Palin, who is a Fox News contributor, went on to say she corrected her mistake immediately.
A former Miss Universe winner shut down her Twitter account after receiving insulting posts for confusing the Koreas with China. 1996 beauty queen winner Alicia Machado of Venezuela had posted -- quote -- "I want to ask you to join me in a prayer for peace that these attacks between the Chinas do not make our situation worse."

And finally, incoming Oakland Mayor Jean Quan got the boot this week -- literally. A local newspaper reports her husband's Toyota Prius got a tire boot for unpaid parking tickets totaling a thousand dollars.
Quan says she thought the tickets -- amassed during her campaign -- had been paid.
