Some of those looking to curry favor with 'Occupy Wall Street' protesters may owe their national platform to big Wall Street donors.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is currently soliciting signatures in support of the movement.
But Salon reports that in the 2008 and 2010 election cycles, the committee raked in $11 million from the securities and investment industries.
That bested all other donors, except lawyers and law firms.
Since the 2008 election, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her political action committee have raised a $500,000 from the financial sector, including lobbyists representing Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.
President Obama has not explicitly endorsed the 'Occupy Wall Street ' movement but says he understands its frustration.
A Sunlight Foundation study says President Obama has received more money from Wall Street than any other politician in the past 20 years.
Everywhere and More
ABC anchor Diane Sawyer made a bold claim about the movement's reach Monday.
Quote -- "As of tonight, it has spread to more than 250 American cities, more than a thousand countries -- every continent but Antarctica."
The State Department recognizes only 195 nation states.
ABC tells Mediaite, Sawyer simply misspoke.
