And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...

It's the Economy, Stupid

Earlier this week, former President Bill Clinton offered his suggestions for saving America's jobs in a Newsweek cover story. The magazine called the more than a dozen ideas, Clinton's "jobs blueprint."

Now, former Vice President Al Gore, is criticizing President Obama's global warming record in an upcoming Rolling Stone essay. Gore says President Obama has failed to stand up for quote -- "bold action" and has made little progress since the previous administration.

Gore writes -- quote -- "President Obama has never presented to the American people the magnitude of the climate crisis. He has not defended the science against the ongoing withering and dishonest attacks. Nor has he provided a presidential venue for the scientific community... to bring the reality of the science before the public."

The White House defended its policies saying -- quote -- "the president has been clear since day one that climate change poses a threat domestically and globally..."

The New York Post analyzes the Clinton and Gore articles -- quote -- "their comfort in criticizing subtly or otherwise the performance of a president of their own party could signal to other Democrats that Obama isn't off limits."

Solar Eclipsed

Environmentalists are also upset spring has come and gone without the administration making good on its promise to install solar panels and a solar water heater on the roof of the White House.

We told you last week, the Energy Department says it is in the active procurement phase of that project that was announced last October and was supposed to be completed this spring.

Summer officially began Tuesday.

Environmental activist Bill McKibben is not happy about the delay -- quote -- "Nine months is a pretty long time. You can have a baby in that time. On the list of things that get done, this isn't all that hard. It doesn't require SEAL Team 6. It just requires a good-faith effort."
