Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:
Jury Out
The jury in the Scooter Libby trial is still struggling to sort out what happened, but it looks like Hollywood has already decided and plans to present its own version — in a feature film based on the lives of Valerie Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joe Wilson.
Variety reports Warner Brothers has a project in development that will use media reports along with Plame's upcoming memoir — though the CIA has not yet cleared it for publication.
Producer Jerry Zucker says the film will be, "the story of two people who spent their lives in service of their government, and were then betrayed by that government."
Plame will get a reported $2.5 million for the book alone. It is not known how much more she will get for the film rights.
Worst Terrorist?
Peace activist Cindy Sheehan says President Bush is the worst terrorist on the planet. Sheehan made the comment in Istanbul, where she attended the Fourth International Meeting for a Warless World. Press TV reports Sheehan called Mr. Bush a serious danger for world stability.
What were the examples of the president's terrorist acts? Aside from the war in Iraq, she pointed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children during the years of the embargo. That of course actually started in 1990 and continued in one form or another under three presidents and was an international effort approved by the UN.
Taking Heat
While Al Gore is taking heat for his high energy consumption at his Nashville mansion, President Bush's Crawford, Texas ranch has been lauded for its environmental friendliness.
The Bush ranch has wastewater that goes into separate purifying tanks and there is a geothermal heating and cooling system that uses about one-fourth the electricity of a traditional setup.
And David Roberts of the environmental online magazine, Grist, tells Cybercast News that the energy efficiency of the Bush ranch is "fantastic."
Alien Technology
And a former Canadian defense minister says the answer to concerns about climate change is technology from UFOs. He's demanding that governments worldwide use secret alien technology to replace fossil fuels and save the planet from global warming.
Paul Hellyer served in the Canadian cabinet in the sixties. He tells the Ottawa Citizen that governments have alien technology they obtained from the crashes of UFOs. He says those spacecrafts were equipped with advanced fuel sources and propulsion systems that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuel within a generation.
