Donors Double Dipping

While John Kerry has raised more than $33 million for his campaign with the help of his top donors, nearly half of those same donors have given even more to the Bush campaign -- which has raised $145 million.

Citigroup, for example, is Kerry's third-largest contributor, having donating $79,000 to his campaign so far this election cycle ... but Citigroup has donated more than twice that to the Bush campaign in the same period.

What's more, according to the Center for Responsive politics, Goldman Sachs, Kerry's sixth-largest contributor, has donated more than four times to the Bush campaign what it has to the Kerry campaign.

Commission's Consideration

Three months after the Supreme Court said certain special interest groups could still donate large amounts of money to presidential campaign activities, the Federal Election Commission is now considering a ban on such donations.

But the Sierra Club -- one of the nation's largest environmental organizations -- has suggested that if the FEC goes through with it, the club will consider just ignoring the ban and continue efforts as planned.

Executive Director Carl Pope said -- "I will do whatever it takes to uphold the right of free speech in this country." The Republican National Committee, meanwhile, insists that would violate the Supreme Court's initial decision, but did not specify how.

Social Services?

And finally, an unemployed German man who was turned down when he asked his government to pay for his wife's return from a trip to Thailand, now says that, as part of social services, it's the government's responsibility to make sure his sexual needs are met in his wife's absence.

The 43-year-old man is demanding the state pay for four trips to a brothel per month and eight porn films per month. A German court has rejected the man's claims, but the court says he is already planning an appeal.
