DC TO HOLD HEARINGS ON MILITARIZATION OF POLICE FORCES IN WAKE OF FERGUSON

GARY K: Much too much! The police should be police, not military, not soldiers. Not a good thing, better else in Afghanistan!

DAGEN MCDOWELL: A lot of this comes from surplus of the Defense Department that goes to local law enforcement agencies. No, it is not justified. I understand assault rifles to combat people on the street with assault rifles. It looks like our military on the street! To what extent does that military present escalate the situation?

ADAM LASHINSKY: The issue is what they do with it and the optics. What it looks like is very important. Let them if they have the opportunity to fight crime let them use it.

CHARLIE GASPARINO: Some of the issue at Ferguson is bad policing. Just regular old bad policing. The militarization came after bad policing. People don't understand the deep economic impact on Ferguson. If the police force cannot handle it, you have to escalate a military presence to protect businesses.

NEW CALLS TO BAN ALL FLIGHTS FROM EBOLA HIT REGION AS DEADLY VIRUS SPREADS

CHARLIE GASPARINO: I do have a problem with having flights coming out of that area.

DAGEN MCDOWELL: I am a free market person, I think if the airlines decide they don't want to fly in and out of these countries - that's fine, but I don't think you can ban travel to and from these countries.

GARY K: I say air on the side of caution, this is spreading big time. If there is a necessity do it, because the cost of not doing anything and it coming onto our shores will be worse.

ADAM LASHINSKY: I think if the airlines don't want to fly that is there call. But an outright ban sends the wrong message.

COST OF RAISING A KID

GARY K: I think a lot of it is public schools, a lot of them aren't any good anymore. Teachers are subpar and controlled by the unions who aren't looking to make things better.

DAGEN MCDOWELL: It has to be in part regarding things you're buying for your kid to go to school.

CHARLIE GASPARINO: There is a positive angle, parents are attuned to give their parents the best education if they can afford it.

ADAM LASHINSKY: I think the conversation has shown that there is no one data point that explains all of it. I think there are all sorts of ways to improve the situation but it's a very varied approach.
