Jeff Bezos cracked jokes about his tumultuous start to 2019 while vowing to Amazon employees that he’s as dedicated to the e-tail giant as ever.

In his first comments to workers since being rocked by a series of scandals, the self-made billionaire cut straight to the point.

“If you don’t mind, just raise your hand, if maybe, just maybe, you’ve had a better start to your 2019 than I have. Anybody?” Bezos quipped during a company all-hands meeting last week, according to CNBC. “I noticed that a couple hands didn’t come up — I’m sorry for you guys.”

Bezos was likely referring to his divorce to MacKenzie Bezos, his wife of 25 years, and the subsequent revelation of his affair with news anchor Lauren Sanchez — as well as his accusations that he was blackmailed by the National Enquirer over nude selfies.

And, in a surprise move last month, Amazon pulled out of a $3 billion deal to build its HQ2 headquarters in Long Island City.

But despite it all, Bezos promised he’s “engaged and focused on Amazon as ever.”

“I still tap dance into the office,” he told staffers at the meeting. “I get to work with remarkable people. I get to live and work in the future. And that’s where I like to be, so thank you.”

Amazon declined to comment to CNBC.
