Lisa Allinson suffered a massive stroke last June, slipping into unconsciousness shortly after giving birth to her son Benjamin. The 34-year-old underwent extensive brain surgery as doctors struggled to keep her alive.

When Allinson finally woke up, she was paralyzed and unable to speak. She also suffered memory loss and had no recollection of giving birth — until her husband Andy presented her with their son.

"For the first few days after she came 'round, she did not know who I was and didn't realize she had given birth," said Allinson's husband Andy. "It was a bit of a shock for her to say the least."

Benjamin was born on June 5, eight days after he was due, and was perfectly healthy.

Now — after spending six months in the hospital — Allison is back home with her family to celebrate Benjamin's first Christmas.

"It is brilliant to be home for Christmas and be with my wonderful husband and son," she said.
