A Wisconsin woman in an airport crosswalk was struck and killed by a maintenance motor-sweeper at Los Angeles/Ontario International Airport.

Reyna Rivera was killed Monday in the car rental return area.

The sweeper was traveling about 15 mph when it hit the 20-year-old Madison, Wis., woman, said Sandy Fatland, a spokeswoman with the San Bernardino County coroner's office.

Rivera was crossing the road in a marked crosswalk at the time, Sgt. Michael Caldera said.

Rivera was taken by helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she died at 10:14 a.m.

The sweeper driver was questioned. Airport spokeswoman Maria Tesoro-Fermin said there will be an investigation.
