A former employee at an optometrist's office is charged with stealing credit cards from elderly patients as they had their eyes checked.

A grand jury indicted Shannon Moore, 35, on two counts of credit-card fraud, but police said they believe at least nine elderly women were victimized.

Moore allegedly brought the victims into the exam room, administered eye drops to dilate their pupils, dimmed the lights, then stole credit cards from their purses, police said.

Moore was indicted on two thefts because the other credit cards were used outside Claremont, police said.
