Wind Flips Speedboat During Drag Race, Throwing Driver
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Windy conditions caused a speedboat to flip during a Budweiser Drag Boat Nationals race, but remarkably, the boat's driver survived.
Joe Peroceschi, of Muskego, Wis., was thrown from his boat, "Smokin Joe," during a race Sunday on Wappapello Lake in southeast Missouri.
Windy conditions lifted the boat from behind, at one point making it perpendicular to the lake.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Peroceschi, who reportedly shattered his pelvis, was racing against Rick Conklin of Ottawa, Ill., and his boat, Poppa's Toy.
