Nursing mothers could soon get some peace of mind in West Virginia, after the House of Delegates voted unanimously Friday to add a breast feeding exemption to the state's indecent exposure law.

The House unanimously passed Senate Bill 148 after making a technical change to the legislation. The Senate, which passed the bill last month, must approve the amendment before the bill can go to Gov. Joe Manchin.

Nursing mothers have sought such legal protection for several sessions. This year's bill was sponsored by Senate Health and Human Resources Chairman Roman Prezioso, D-Marion.

At least 30 other states have passed legislation to emphasize that their indecent exposure laws aren't meant to target nursing mothers. Wisconsin is considering such a measure this year.
