A Washington, D.C., police officer is accused of being the lookout for a robbery that ended with a fatal shooting.

Officer Reginald Jones was charged Tuesday with felony murder in the Dec. 1 shooting death of Arvel Alston of Maryland.

The officer is not accused of pulling the trigger, but authorities say he attended a meeting to plan the robbery and was parked nearby in his cruiser. He's also accused of driving away when a woman pleaded for help.

Police say Alston and his son, Arvel Crawford, were among the four robbers who got into a scuffle with their target. The son is accused of firing shots that killed his father and injured the robbery victim.

Crawford is also charged with felony murder. Attorneys for Jones and Crawford did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
