CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela says it has captured Colombian spies and says it will soon produce evidence.
Deputy foreign minister Francisco Arias Cardenas says agents of Colombia's DAS state security agency were "captured carrying out actions of espionage."
He gave few details Tuesday, but says an unspecified number of agents are accused of involvement in plans to destabilize President Hugo Chavez's government.
Venezuela says the agents were purportedly helping investigate the killings of 10 men who were abducted from a soccer field in Venezuela near the Colombian border.
Colombia's ambassador to Caracas, Maria Luisa Chiappe, says she has no information about DAS agents working in Venezuelan territory.
