A utility worker confronted by a 2-pound teacup Chihuahua outside a Mojave Desert home allegedly kicked the family pet, breaking its neck.

Nine-year-old Gwen was killed.

Homeowner Brianne Enos says the dog ran out of the Hesperia home and began barking at the Southwest Gas Corp. employee who arrived Friday on a service call. The utility worker then allegedly kicked the dog.

Southwest Gas says in a statement the service technician was charged twice by the homeowner's aggressive dog. The utility is offering $500 for a replacement dog.

The woman's husband Kevin Enos says the dog was killed in front of his wife while she held the couple's 2-month-old boy. A report was filed with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
